This week, our Pre-School children enjoyed a truly memorable trip to Starr Hill Care Home—a visit full of joy, discovery and meaningful connections.
From the moment they arrived, the children were welcomed by the residents and staff. One of the highlights of the day was meeting and feeding a friendly tortoise, sparking lots of excitement and curiosity among the children. For many, it was their first time encountering such an animal up close, offering a hands-on learning experience about nature and gentle care.
Afterwards, everyone settled in to enjoy a cosy screening of Hey Duggee in the home's very own cinema. The shared much laughter and smiles.
To top off a wonderful day, one of the residents surprised the children with beautifully hand-knitted gifts—each made with love and care especially for them. These thoughtful presents were a touching gesture that the children were thrilled to receive and will treasure.
Beyond the fun, this trip was an important opportunity for our young learners to build social skills, show kindness, and learn about empathy and respect for others. Intergenerational visits like this encourage a sense of community, and help children understand the value of connecting with people of all ages.
We are so grateful to Starr Hill Care Home for their warm hospitality and to everyone involved in making the day so special. It was a heartwarming reminder of how much we can all gain from spending time together.
