Bringing Parliamentary debate to AKS PUBLISHED 15 September 2019 PSHE for Year 9 got off to a great start for this academic year as we were fortunate enough to be able to host a visit from a parliamentary outreach worker for the afternoon. Year 9 gathered together to learn about the concept of and practical application of democracy in the UK. Then, to great enjoyment, our school hall was transformed into the House of Commons, where Daniel from Year 9, as Speaker of the House, presided over a debate ... we're happy to say our pupils behaved better than some of our politicians during the following Question Time! This event was followed up in PSHE lessons, where pupils continued to learn the skill of debating, evaluation and presenting their arguments to an audience. #TwentyFirstCenturyCompetencies #WeAreAKS #BuildingFoundationsForLife AUTHOR: Alex Brown PUBLISHED: 15 September 2019 CATEGORIES: News
