AKS continued their winning ways on the netball scene with four good league wins against Carr Hill.

The AKS Year 11  Netball team enjoyed a great game against Carr Hill in their latest league match.  AKS took the lead early on with accurate passing and dodging and superb shooting from Ellie and Charlotte. Carr Hill moved extremely well around their attacking circle but  Amelia and Tara worked well as a team in our defending circle to stop Carr Hill creating many scoring opportunities and closing the gap between the two schools.  AKS used the second half to improve their use of the space on the court and move their attacking play down the court.  Ellie was excellent as GA shooting from various angles and the hard working Hannah was voted player of the match.

AKS Year 10 faced a much stronger Carr Hill side who have clearly been working on their court play.  AKS however were able to take control of the game in the first few minutes of the first half and they took the lead whilst Carr Hill found their feet with accurate passing down the court and superb shooting. As the half progressed Carr Hill began to put us under more pressure with good marking and AKS began to panic and this affected our level of play which allowed Carr Hill to get back into the game and close the gap in the score.  We went into the second half ahead but knowing we needed to remain composed on the ball and utilise our  dodging skills more effectively if we were to maintain our unbeaten league record. With improved accuracy of pass we regained control and worked the ball effectively down the court to create scoring opportunities which were duly converted and at the final whistle it was another good win 10 – 3. Ziv was the player of the match for her superb defending in the circle.

The Year 9 B team followed their win in the Fylde & Wyre tournament on Tuesday with another win. We started well with accurate passing and good dodging from Kate, Zara and Maisie and took an early lead thanks to accurate shooting from Patsy and Summer. Effective defending in the circle from Leila and Anna  limited Carr Hill’s scoring opportunities and we went into the break 7 – 0 ahead. After the break we continued play well as a team and started put in to practice the tactics worked on in training. More good shooting from Katie and Patsy kept the score moving along and with great marking from Poppy and  Charley stopped Carr Hill scoring and at the final whistle the score had moved on to 13 – 0. Patsy was voted player of the match for her excellent shooting along with Kate for her excellent link play.

The Year 9 A team also enjoyed an impressive victory after a superb display of quick, accurate netball. The first half saw us start well and we went into an early lead thanks to goals from Captain Amelie and Lucy. Everyone work hard to mark closely and disrupt the Carr Hill passing and superb circle defence from new combination Mady and Beth limited Carr Hill’s shooting opportunities and at half time the score was 8 – 0. In the second half we started to play with more structure and execute patterns of play worked on in training with everyone contributing to the team play. Maddie worked tirelessly in the centre of the court  to link our attack and defence and with more accurate shooting by the final whistle we had extended our lead to 23 – 1. Maddie and Lucy were voted as ‘players of the match’.
