Cross Country medals for Layla & Maddie

Five AKS  cross country teams made up of boys and girls from year 7 to 11 had a perfect day to show their running prowess on what was a brilliant course involving some wet ground, sand dunes and flat fields at Rossall School.

Performance of the day came from Maddie who ran superbly to outpace the whole field to win the Year8/9 race and take home the gold medal. Maddie led from the front starting strongly and heading the field from the gun and she kept up the pace to come home infront. Also in the medals was Year 7 Layla who claimed the bronze medal with a superb run in a very competitive race just missing out on gold in the latter stages.

With teams in five of the events there were plenty of other creditable performances. In the Year 8/9 girls event Maddie’s top spot was supported by  Jessica who finished in 7^th with Olivia in 14^th. Year 7 boys Alfie ( 10^th) and Jonathon ( 20^th ) were the top AKS performers in a big field. The Year 8/9 boys team was led by Oliver who finished in 8^th place and the Year 10&11 boys ran in a very competitive pack with  Joe finishing 17^th and Josh in 18^th.

Overall  a brilliant performance by all AKS students in what were very  competitive races.
