AKS Lytham are through to round 3 of the English Schools National Cup after a convincing 5-1 win against Brownedge High School.

AKS started confidently and played attacking football early on whilst staying disciplined in defence. After a few early chances the break through came from right-winger Harris, who chased a cool layoff from Urquhart to slot past the Brownedge 'keeper.  Harry B then made it 2-0 with a neat strike from the left following fine forward play again. The Brownedge 'keeper made several good saves before Urquhart scored a deserved goal, slamming home a loose ball to make it 3-0 to AKS at the half.

In the second half, AKS again kept good shape throughout, led by combative centre midfielder McNicholas protecting the back 3 and McGuirk holding the line well as sweeper. AKS scored a fourth through Shiers, who cleverly latched on to an excellent kick from 'keeper Butler- one of several in the game- to strike home from 12 yards. Brownedge did manage to sneak a goal with a good turn and finish inside the box, before Murphy, who tracked back superbly and made several threatening runs down the left wing, got the better of his marker and bent a low finish into the bottom right corner. Final score AKS 5, Brownedge 1.

AKS have been drawn at home again in round 3, against either Westholme or the cup holders St Bede's Manchester.
