AKS Preparatory School host Wyre & Fylde U11 Girls Football Festival

PUBLISHED 22 November 2019

On Wednesday 20th November, AKS Preparatory School hosted the Wyre & Fylde U11 Girls Football Festival on a bitterly cold day. With 10 teams from 9 schools across the Fylde coast, all teams did fantastically well to complete the Festival.

AKS Year 5 girls made up our 2 teams and played superbly well competing primarily against Year 6 girls from other schools.

Our B team showed great resilience and never gave up, even when the score lines favoured the other teams.  As a team they all started to learn more as the festival went on and kicked every ball until the final whistle.

Our A team had mixed success with 2 wins and 3 losses from their games. In both victorious games AKS won 1.0, with the goals being scored by Anna Vavoso and Camilla Coupe in each. Shelby Quigley making her debut in goal used all parts of her body to keep the ball out of the AKS goal and made some very fine stops.

A big thank you to Mrs Shakespeare who assisted Mr Moretti and to all the parents and spectators who braved the cold conditions to cheer all the girls on.

Overall winners were Clifton who now progress to next round of the Lancashire School Games, well played and good luck!

Congratulations to all girls and teams who took part.
