AKS welcome QES, Kirby Lonsdale to Lytham - Match Day Reports

PUBLISHED 30 January 2020

On Saturday, AKS welcomed QES of Kirby Lonsdale to Lytham to take on our U12 A & B, U13 & U14 football teams.

U12A's:

Our U12A’s proved too strong for the opposition and in a dominant first half display AKS steamed into a commanding position with a 5.2 score line at the break.

2 goals from Rory, 1 each from the dynamic wizards Alfie and Aydin gave AKS a 4.1 lead after only 20mins of the half, AKS playing some incisive football and creating many more chances could have had many more goals. Before the break both teams scored with Alfie getting his 2nd goal of the game.

The second half was a closer affair with AKS still playing like they did in the first half although it was the visitors who scored the only goal of the half to make for a tense last 10mins. AKS held on and won after their endeavours in the previous 2 games had gone un-rewarded.

Coach: Mr Collings

U12B's:

Our U12B’s took on a strong QES side and showed great resilience throughout the match despite the final score.

AKS started very brightly and playing some great attacking football took the lead after only 5 minutes which seemed to spur the opposition. 2 quick goals in succession changed the course of the game. Harry playing in midfield worked tirelessly to bring his side back into the game but QES ran out winners although the AKS performance was pleasing and something to build on for the upcoming games.

U13's:

The U13’s after 2 previous defeats came into this game in buoyant mood after a week of positive training sessions.

Facing a strong QES side, who were crowned County Champions recently, AKS started strongly and took the game to the visitors, pressing high and looking to break down a strong defence. AKS now used to their formation dominated possession and with the defence unit of Squires, Littler and Shakespeare holding strong AKS were looking to press for the opener.

Against the run of play and as AKS were looking to score, QES capitalised on 2 opportunities and scored giving QES a 2.0 lead despite the best efforts form Squires in goal to stop them. Not deterred AKS never gave up and showed great tenacity & resilience, the impressive Collier bringing a goal back for the home side to make it 2.1 just before the break.

The second half proved to follow the same pattern as the first, with AKS dominating the possession but unable to capitalise, the midfield trio of Curran, Hoskinson and Collier proving difficult for the opposition to break down.

It was soon 3.1 to the visitors however AKS replied instantly with Collier bagging his second of the game to make it 3.2. In a tough final 20mins, AKS pressed for the equaliser but it was the visitors who scored a fourth to make the final score 4.2.

Mr Matthews after the game was full of praise for his side, not disheartened by the result but very much looking forward to the season ahead after that performance.

U14's:

The U14’s once again gave a positive performance of themselves but for all their endeavour and tenacity were unable to find their first win of the season.

AKS started brightly and the impressive Rio GP gave the visitors defence numerous problems, breaking down the left and creating many opportunities that his side were unable to capitalise on, against the run of play QES took the lead with a well taken goal.

AKS not deterred kept on pressing and Max equalised with a great header from a corner making it 1.1 and on the balance of play a fair reflection of the game at half time.

Into the second half and it was a similar picture with both teams cancelling each other out, George F made a few fine saves but was unable to stop the visitors taking a 2.1 lead as the ball ricocheted to the feet of the striker after a save. Despite the hard work from Harvey M and George G and as AKS pressed for an equaliser, QES went into a commanding 4.1 lead with another 2 well taken goals.

Frustrating result for the team after all their hard work.

MOM: George G & Harvey M

Coach: Mr Castellas & Mr Humphries
