The Drama Studio again played host to this year's poetry recitation extravaganza, with twelve Year 7 finalists taking centre stage under the watchful eyes of scrutiny belonging to this year's three guest judges: Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Lucking and Mrs. House.
Offerings this time around were varied and effervescent, with Belloc's comedic Matilda aired one moment, to be displaced by a rendition of Kipling's mysterious The Way Through the Woods the next. In other words, the usual eclectic blend of poetry from across generations ensued, supported and applauded by a friendly and appreciative audience which saw the intimate venue brimful, as is usually the case for this extremely popular and enjoyable event.
Samlesbury House were the victors in this year’s excellent event. However, all who presented their versions of either Dahl’s The Pig, Edgar’s The Lion and Albert, or any of the other verse from which Year 7 had a choice, are to be commended for their efforts and willingness to participate.
The final outcomes this year were as follows:
Individual
Scarlett (Rufford) 1st
Anya (Leighton) 2nd
Alfie (Leighton) 3rd
House (average score /47)
Leighton 37.5 - 1st
Rufford 36.2 - 2nd
Samlesbury 33.8 - 3rd
Gawthorpe 32 - 4th
Well done to everyone!
