On Tuesday Mrs Briggs took Kathryn, Anika, Reya and Lukas to a 'Diana Award' training course in Blackpool for the day. The pupils spoke maturely about a range of issues on well-being and worked very hard all day to pass their training. The pupils are now trained as ambassadors for the Prep school and will receive their certificates at our next certificate assembly.

During the day, the pupils had to develop a SMART plan of up to 12 new initiatives to use within the school over the next 12 months. Mrs Briggs was very impressed with their ideas. The ambassadors will now form the new Well-being Committee in school and will act on the plan, with Mrs Briggs, to further develop our school in this very important area. Some of the initiatives to be rolled out to the Prep school are: Feel Good Friday, Smile and be Kind, Playground Buddy Listeners and lots more too. This will build on our friendship benches, AKS Rules, Friday tuck shop, yoga and mindfulness colouring clubs.

As a whole school, we are now working towards our Well-being badge working with the Diana Award organisation. Mrs Marland also attended the training with five senior school pupils who are also now trained as ambassadors.

The Diana Award organisation, which is supported by the Department of Education, use the motto, 'Young people can change the world.' They also gave a quote from Princess Diana, which she fully believed in:

'Everyone needs to be valued. Everyone has the potential to give something back.'
