Success for U11 Boys Football and Hockey Tour

PUBLISHED 13 March 2020

Our U11 Boys Football & Hockey squad embarked on their Sports Tour last Friday with a visit to both Manchester Football Clubs pre-derby weekend.

The boys attended Manchester City Independent Schools Football Festival in the morning and competed well against tough opposition, drawing 2 and losing 2 although the teams play and possession deserved more from all the games they played. Enjoying the surroundings the boys would have made Pep and his team take note.

Onto Manchester Grammar School in the afternoon and the boys switch sports and took to the hockey field against a strong MGS side. Once again the sun was out and the boys managed to win this fixture with goals from Ollie, Xavier, Freddie & Jayden. The game was end to end and MGS were always dangerous on the break but for some fine saves from Charlie W making his debut in goal. A great afternoon and always a positive fixture vs MGS for development and learning.

Into the evening and the boys went to AON Training Complex Carrington, home to Manchester United. In an evening that saw the boys meet football icon Marcus Rashford, the boys were also ball boys to the ISFA U13 North West side who were taking on a Manchester United Emerging Talent side, ran by Mr Moretti.

After a good night’s sleep, the boys visited Westholme for a Saturday morning fixture. With the boys in great spirit they gave another great account of themselves and in an end to end game were unlucky to lose 2.1, Jayden scoring the sides only goal of the game with a 30yd strike that looped over the keeper.

The boys had a fantastic experience on their Tour and showed great sportsmanship and enthusiasm.  Well done to you all!
