Keira's Rainbow

A symbol of hope and peace to all

Our Year 11 student Keira recently helped her friend Abe, by modelling for his entry in the International High School Arts competition.  Abe produced an amazing piece of art and really brought Keira to life with his very talented piece of work and got shortlisted down to the final 10 in the whole of the United Kingdom.

Keira has recently painted a rainbow to symbolise peace and hope - which she has displayed at home in her window.

Keira's rainbow will be the starting point of a display which will be put up in the windows of our Preparatory School entrance which can be seen from King Edward's Avenue.  We hope local residents who pass school on their daily walk will be inspired to do the same, and hope it brings a ray of sunshine and a message of solidarity and hope to all.

Our Head of Art & Design, Jane Wild said "Keira is an absolute pleasure to teach. She has completed her personal project based on a trip she took to New York with her family last summer and is currently working on an underwater theme for her exam unit. She has produced some stunning sculptures as well as drawings."

We would like to invite all AKS students to create their own rainbow.  Please take a photograph of your rainbow and email it to us - prep@akslytham.com - and we will print it off and add it to our wall of rainbows.

Be creative - you can use crayons, paint, buttons, ribbon, felt, in fact anything you like!
