PUBLISHED 16 October 2020

The academic year 2019 - 2020 started off well for the running of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme at AKS with record numbers signing up at all 3 levels.

A practice Silver expedition in the Ribble Valley in October, a Gold training walk in the Yorkshire Dales in January and a Bronze training day in February all took place successfully and then Covid struck so unfortunately no further expeditions took place in the Spring or Summer of 2020.

However not all has been lost - we were delighted that the following Awards were gained-

15 Bronze Awards

11 Silver Awards and

6 Gold Awards.

To compensate for the lack of an expedition, a special 2020 certificate is being issued to those who complete the 3 sections of skill, volunteering and physical recreation by Christmas 2020. Well done to those on the lists so far.

Numbers signing up now for all 3 levels are as good as ever and we are just hoping to get outside for a few training walks over the next few months.  Well done to everyone involved.
