Year 4 sketch the Spitfire and create land art in outdoor learning

PUBLISHED 27 June 2023

Earlier this week Year 4 had a superb trip to see the Spitfire at Fairhaven Lake. The sun shone as Year 4 started to sketch the Spitfire. They rotated positions so that they could draw the aeroplane from three different angles. Some great detail was added as well as shape and line work completed by the pupils.

In the afternoon, Year 4 had a range of tasks to complete using collected wood. Each group had a different focus. The pupils have been learning about Andy Goldsworthy in their Outdoor Learning and Art lessons. So, their task was to create land art in the style of the artist. Spirals, circles, and lines sculptures were created by the groups. All were different and creative.

Lastly, they took a picture of their artwork, just like Andy Goldsworthy would do, to give a lasting memory of the artwork created before it disappeared.

The children had such a wonderful day of learning.  Thank you to Mrs Hine, Mrs Shakespeare and Mrs Briggs
