Senior School Teatime Concert

PUBLISHED 15 June 2023

Congratulations to our performers at yesterday’s Senior School Teatime Concert, which took place outside on the sunken tennis courts, alongside a superb afternoon tea provided by our five-star catering team.

The Year 7 to 13 students kept their cool in the blistering heat, as they entertained friends, family and passers-by.

This more intimate, informal concert series provides the perfect opportunity for students to build their confidence and experience, so it was fantastic to see Year 7 well-represented on piano, saxophone and guitar. Similarly, it was wonderful to see how Year 8 vocalists, Charlotte and Penny have developed since their first solos, only one year before.

As always, the standard from our seasoned performers, such as Connie C and Eve C (both Year 10) was exceptional, with Alex W (Year 11) taking to the stage after only having completed her Music GCSE that afternoon. We were also treated to Louis G (Year 13) play an effortless rendition of Autumn Leaves which had the added poignance of being the first piece he worked on with Mr Waterhouse and now, his last piece played in a Teatime Concert before he joins the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire after his A levels this summer.

Henry Y, Alex C and Maia C (Year 12) closed the concert with pieces by Bach, Green Day and Joplin played on the cello, drums and piano – ending the concert on a high and illustrating the diversity of the programme.

Well done everyone and a huge thanks to the music, maintainance and catering departments who work so hard to make this event happen.

If it's whetted your appetite for more music, our Senior School Summer Concert takes place on the 29th JuneIf you’ve not booked your tickets yet, please do so here to secure your seats - Senior concerts frequently sell-out!
