Camilla C smashes records in ESAA Track & Field Cup

AKS athletes had their first outing of the season at the English Schools Cup Competition with U13 and U15 Girls, U13 and U15 boys teams involved. Both girls teams produced some outstanding performances to qualify for the North West Finals in second spot with the boys also competing well to finish 5th and 4th respectively.

Star performer on the day was Yr 8 Camilla C who not only scored 53 points for the team but also smashed the school All Comers record in the 200m with a superb time of 26.6s and followed this with another school record in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.72m. Year 7 Olivia W also performed superbly scoring 24 points in her first ever 75mH race with an impressive time of 12.9s. Anna V was another key athlete scoring 21 points with a throw of 21.68m in the Javelin and adding a further 19 with her 800m time of 2m55s.

Good sprint runs from Olivia D (14.0s 19 points ) and Camilla W ( 14.2 s 17 points) and a great, well paced 1500m from Elsie T ( 6.09.0 18 points) added valuable points to the team total of 327 which saw the team in 2nd place on the day and qualified the team for the North West A Final.

In the Intermediate girls event top performer was Lisa P who ran a superbly paced 1500m to record a time of 5m 27s to score 22 points. Charlotte L ( 200m – 28.2s)  and Rosie L ( Hammer – 27.41m) both scored 20 points for the team and good runs in the 300m ( 46.7s) by Kirtika S and Sophia M in the 1500m ( 5m 49s) added 19 & 18 points respectively. Sophie S threw well in the Javelin, 23.97m and Lilly G recorded a season’s best of 8.15m in the shot. The team total of 330 points saw them finish in second spot and follow the Junior team in the North West A Finals.

 Star performer in the Junior Boys event was Matthew S who scored 23 points in the Javelin with a superb throw of 30.30m and added 16 more points with a time of 5m21.0 in the 1500m. The distance events proved successful with great runs in the 800 by Thomas C ( 2m41.0s 16pts) and Monty M ( 2m46s 15pts) and in the 1500m William G ( 5m20s 17pts ).  The final team total of 247points saw them in 5th spot

In Intermediate Boys team impressive sprinting from Harry B and Theo W in the 100m saw them both run 12.4s to score 19points and William W matched this in the 200m with a time of 25.4s. Jonathon W amassed 36 points with a great 800m ( 2m24s ) and Shot ( 10.72m) while Tommy McQ’s hurdles time of 13.3s also added 18 points to the team total. The team final points score of 311points saw the team in 4th place.
