It's been an excellent start to the cricket season here at AKS. Our U17s progressed in the National Cup and our U13, U14 & U15 teams all progressed to the Lancashire Cup. Our Senior team acquitted themselves extremely well, as we hosted the National T20 qualifying round - although we didn't win there were a couple of brilliant individual efforts. Report from Week 2 below:
U13 Cup v Bacup Rawtenstall GS:
AKS 90/1
Bacup Rawtenstall GS 86/8
AKS progressed into Round of the County Cup with an impressive first game of the season. In to bowl at the start, AKS got 2 wickets in the first 2 overs, as the visitors were 11/2 after 2 overs, Kiernan and Keskin with a wicket each. With the bowling order in good form, Bacup were held to just 47 runs off 10 overs in their first half of the game. AKS went into bat and lost Keskin after 11 runs, AKS 17/1 after 3 overs. The impressive Bourne and Kiernan held the next 7 overs with a partnership of 56, which put AKS in a dominant position of 84/1 after 10 overs.
With Bacup back into bat, they managed to reach 86/8 after 20 overs, impressive bowling from all with Charlie P & Aiden L who took 2 wickets a piece.
With AKS needing 5 runs to win, Bourne & Kiernan both reached 333 & 30 respectively with Archie J coming into bat.
A good overall team performance and looking forward to the next round.

U15 Cup v Ripley:
Win for U15 in the Cup. We posted 131/5 on a pudding of a pitch and protected it well with RST managing 104/9 of their 20.
Senior National T20 Cup:
AKS 163/4 def by Kirkham GS 4/168 in the final over. Felix T 77no off 41 balls.
AKS 3/156 def by Rossall 0/160. Rory U 73no off 38 balls.
Our budding senior team represented the school with pride and posted 2 competitive totals batting first, with 2 of our younger players showing tremendous batting to steer our innings to a climax.
Overall our bowling and fielding weren’t at the levels we needed them to be, with wides and loose bowling costing us many runs which turned out to be crucial in our results.
Our boys can be proud of their display of cricket and spirit and will be sure to return to this competition next season with more experience and look to make an even bigger impact.
Our beautiful fields at AKS were a highlight for all concerned and produced some excellent cricket and a picturesque setting for the competition.
U14 Cup v Broughton:
AKS 3/128 def Broughton 6/77 (Jacob L 35 retired, Xavier D 22). AKS progress to round 2.
U12 Cup v Hutton:
