The successful hockey season at AKS continued at the weekend with all teams proving too strong for Stockport Grammar School and the U12 maintaining their unbeaten season with another emphatic win.
The U15 team got the morning off or the perfect start with a great 4 - 1 win. We started well playing some good passing hockey and deservedly took the lead in the first half when Lucy T found the net. Great defending from Lisa P, Lucy W, Freya E, Charlotte C and Lara K constantly frustrated the Stockport attack and an Eve Cl goal made the score 2 – 0 at half time. After the break we dominated the play with player of the match Kirktika S a constant threat on the right and she created the next goal doing all the hard work allowing Lucy Turpie to touch the ball over the line for her second and our third goal. Stockport did get a goal back however, despite the best efforts of keeper Sasha Panagarry but the win was sealed with a 4th goal from Laura Arts to make the finals score 4 – 1.
The U12 A team continued their impressive scoring record with a comprehensive 7 - 0 win to maintain their season’s unbeaten run. The first half however was a close affair with AKS dominating possession but squandering a number goal scoring opportunities and we went into the break just 1 – 0 ahead. After the break we became much more accurate with our passing and clinical infront of goal and prolific scorers Olivia W and Camilla W createded and scored goals at ease to make the final score 7 – 0 with Olivia netting a hat-trick and Camilla four. Player of the match was Isabelle C .
AKS U12 B team continue to go from strength to strength and matched the A team scoring 7 without conceding. We started the game well putting the pressure on early which paid off with an opening goal by Gabby H-S within the first few minutes. A high press saw a second and precise goal by Kathryn S soon after but Stockport began to come back in to the game and had a few attacking runs however tight marking and excellent tackling from Sophie C, Maya B, Claudia J and Georgina W thwarted their best efforts.
Just before half time we went further ahead when Hamna A, Gabby H-S and Kathryn S linked well together to create another scoring opportunity which Gabby duly put away to score her second goal and make the half time score 3 - 0.
In the second half great defending by Isla J, Isabella S- S and Georgina W helped maintain our clean sheet and goals from Maya and Kathryn S made the score 5 - 0. Despite the score line, Stockport came back at us and put more pressure on the AKS defence. Georgina W’s performance was solid with great interceptions and strong tackles and a superb early pass to Gabby, saw a speedy run and clinical finish clinch her hat trick goal. A goal in the last five minutes from Kathryn S made the final score an impressive 7-0 after a great team effort.
POM voted by the opposition was Gabby H-S and special mention to Annie L who stepped in to player goalkeeper for the first time.
