Another fantastic week for our AKS Prep Sports stars, competing across various sporting arenas.
On Saturday 4th March, our U11A & B Girls' Hockey squads competed in the U12 Jean Torrence Tournament held at AKS. In freezing conditions for all, players and spectators, thankfully the hockey was on fire and all our girls did fantastic, with the A’s finishing 3rd in the Cup competition and the B’s finishing 4th in the Plate competition.
On Tuesday 7th March, our U11 A & B football squads took on Lytham Hall Park in the local schools league. With both teams, unfortunately, losing, the level of performance and chances created could have made for different results. Great to have the Tuesday night league games back on.
Tuesday also saw our U10 Hockey girls competing in the Stonyhurst Festival, alongside themselves and Kirkham Grammar. In glorious sunshine, the AKS girls did fantastically and 2 wins in their first 2 games, was the followed up by a 2-2 draw against a strong Stonyhurst side, AKS coming from 2 goals down to get the draw, a resilient and determined display from all the girls.
Wednesday 8th March, saw AKS hosting the U11 Lancashire Boys Hockey Festival, with Bolton Boys, Sedbergh, Ashbridge and Kirkham Grammar. In their first competitive fixtures, our boy’s hockey squad gave a great account of themselves, winning 1, drawing 2, and losing 1, to eventual winners Bolton Boys. AKS finished 3rd overall with Bolton Boys & Sedbergh in 1st & 2nd place respectively.
Wednesday also saw our U8 & U9 Rugby squads in action vs Kirkham Grammar at AKS. In friendly fixtures, all the boys did well and despite the freezing temperatures enjoyed the opportunity to play rugby.
This Friday 10th March, also see our Year 3 & 4 boys competing in the Wyre & Fylde football festival, held at AKS. We are all looking forward to this event, lets hope the weather doesn’t stop play!
