Lunchtime Lecture Series: How did Maths win the war? PUBLISHED 07 February 2023 Mrs Green delivered a fascinating lunchtime lecture today about how applied mathematics was used to estimate number of tanks on the battlefield; enable codes to be made and broken; the work at Bletchley Park, the Enigma Machine, and the Bombe which decrypted the code. The lecture also outlined the life and achievements of Alan Turing and spoke about his lasting impact on our understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) through the Turin Test. Our lunchtime lectures are compulsory for Academic Scholars; and all students from Years 7 to 13 are welcome to attend. AUTHOR: Alex Brown PUBLISHED: 07 February 2023 CATEGORIES: News, Senior School
