Year 12 students excel in Tycoons Enterprise Competition

PUBLISHED 27 January 2023

Year 12 students have once again excelled in the national Tycoons Enterprise competition. All four groups made healthy profits.

Cocoa Christmas proved their market research on chocolate stirrers would be very popular. Once again, a note of thanks goes to our head chef Steve Shepherd for his chocolatier master class. Blitzen Baubles hand-crafted Christmas baubles, took in bespoke orders for certain colour schemes, and cleared their stock with some door-to-door sales! Boujee Bottles upcycled wine bottles and only using a small loan of £40 generated a most impressive profit. Finally, Wiquour recycled wine bottles to create candles. They also continued their environmental theme by sourcing quality wax and scents left over from a lockdown project. A very nicely organised and hard-working group they fully deserve to be first place in the competition with a profit of over £900.

All profits go to local charities often chosen by the students as they have a connection with them.

This is the 8th year in succession that students from AKS have held first place in either overall profit or return on investment. This is partly down to their hard work and commitment and also the support they receive from the AKS and wider community. As ever, I am indebted to the PTA and especially the Ladies Luncheon Club, the Dragons Den sales pitch, and the opportunity to set up stalls at their Christmas events is much appreciated.
