Six Preparatory pupils from Year 5 and 6 attended the annual Association of Junior Independent Schools (AJIS) Chess Competition at Bolton School on Saturday 12th November. The boys competed in the hardest, 'A stream' against 13 Independent schools from across Lancashire, with c.120-150 pupils taking part.

There were five rounds each lasting twenty-five minutes. The boys played for individual and team points. There were wins, draws and a few losses by all six pupils. Isaac showed he was a force to be reckoned with, by narrowly missing out on being crowned champion, with just half a point separating him and the overall winner.

Mrs Briggs (Prep School Chess Club Co-ordinator) commented, "The boys were a credit to our school, showing resilience and respectfulness throughout the day". Congratulations to all!
