Senior School Sports Day

Senior School Sports Day

PUBLISHED 07 July 2022

This year’s Senior Sports Day was accompanied by a strong Fylde coast wind and some ominous clouds but that didn’t put off the AKS community from celebrating our students’ athletic development over the past 12 months, and celebrate we did!

Attended and supported by so many of our parents the atmosphere was superb, led on largely by our year 12 contingent who donned their house colours alongside a little glitter and sparkle to cheer their houses on and rally the enthusiasm throughout the event.

As all school sports days should be, the afternoon was inclusive for all, and to see all our students who were in attendance on the day, taking part in at least one event and a maximum of four is always special. In doing this it also allowed for everyone to contribute points to their house total and to the final standings at the end of the competition.

Alongside the inclusivity and celebration of participation, we were also treated to some outstanding performances on the day, with several school records being equalled and broken.

A huge congratulations to these competitors but equally to all our students who took part in the event, many of whom will have stepped outside of their comfort zone in doing so.

The whole day was a triumph, and Samlesbury lifted the Couburn Cup, led to victory by the beloved Miss De Miranda on her final sports day.  The house points were as follows:

1st = Samlesbury with 236 points

2nd = Gawthorpe with 208 points

3rd = Leighton with 190 points

4th = Rufford with 188 points
