AKS Year 7 Girls enjoy excellent afternoon of athletics against Ripley St. Thomas PUBLISHED 22 May 2022 It was another festival of athletics at AKS on Friday as all the Year 7 girls from AKS and Ripley St.Thomas competed in a combined events competition. The event saw the girls challenged by having to compete in three events for the first time and they certainly rose to the challenge superbly with some top performances. Every girl participated in a run, chosen from hurdles, 100m,200m or 800m, Long Jump and a throw chosen from Shot, Discus or Javelin with points being awarded for each performance. Top overall performer was Anna V who put together a superb set of performances to score 220 points with 13.0s in the 70mHurdles, 3.96m in Long Jump and 25.10m in the javelin. Close on her heels in 2nd place was Camilla C who scored 198 points with a great long jump of 4.36m, Shot Putt of 5.87m, and 200m 30.0s. Olivia D was AKS 3rd best performer with 172 points just ahead of Maisie W 167 points. It was fantastic to see every girl in the year compete for the school and take part in three different events and it certainly was enjoyed by both AKS & Ripley pupils and supporters and we look forward to next match against Lytham High School.
