Year 5 learn how to make felt PUBLISHED 22 April 2022 Pupils in Year 5 have been learning how to make felt.Under the expert tuition of Mrs Gill Ferguson, the children learnt that felt comes from sheep's wool and how to "lay down" the background and the colours for the sea before making their fish using different coloured wool. After dinner, the children worked together in groups for the physical job of wetting the fleece before rolling and turning the pictures repeatedly inside long bamboo blinds, a process that slowly bonds the layers of wool into a single piece of felt.A big thank you to Mrs Ferguson and the children who worked hard and a big thank you too to the PTA who provided funds for each KS2 class to experience felt making.Next week Year 6 will be making felt featuring Coastal birds.
