Prep School Spring Music Concert

PUBLISHED 23 March 2022

Our Prep School Spring Concert provided the opportunity for thirty-three pupils to perform solos for their friends and family. It is a testament to the culture of performance and the infectious enthusiasm Mr Thomas has for music that so many children volunteered to play.

It was also fantastic to see children in Year 1 perform solos with such composure. Mason opened the concert by playing the catchy ‘Lean of Me’ on his ukulele, before classmate, Luca, delivered a confident performance of ‘Red Indian Dance’ and Andrew (Year 2) played his two pieces.

Performers from Years 3 to 6 then followed on the piano, ukulele, voice, drums, violin, clarinet and flute. The talent in Prep School is incredibly exciting, with some students reaching Grade 3 and 4 in Year 3, with another pupil performing after only four lessons. Overall, their confidence, composure and clear enjoyment of music was wonderful to see.

Well done everyone! We are looking forward to seeing the Prep Choir perform at the ‘AKS Cabaret’ in the Senior School Hall on the 30th March. The concert is being performed as a fundraiser for our 2022 Senior School Music Tour to the Rhine Valley in July.

AKS students are free to attend (please complete the form on the parent bulletin to secure your child’s place), tickets for non-AKS children and adults are £5 from our Prep and Senior reception offices, or online here.
