Prep School's Christmas Concert rocked around the Christmas tree...

PUBLISHED 03 December 2021

Our Prep School hall was alive with the sound of music last night, when thirty six children took to the stage in a varied programme of solo and duet performances in what was our largest showcase of Prep talent to date. Piano was as popular as always, but we were also treated to several performances on the ukulele, flute, violin, voice, guitar and a strong cadre of drummers!

The concert opened with Mason (Year 1) on the ukulele, then progressed through the year groups to Year 6. We were treated to a variety of Christmas-themed pieces, including, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, All I want for Christmas, Good King Wenceslas, Silent Night, We Three Kings and of course, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

We also enjoyed more contemporary pieces, including No Time to Die (from the current Bond film), Can’t Get Enough (Bad Company), You Really Got Me (The Kinks), Smoke on the Water (Deep Purple), Creep (Radiohead) in addition to classical pieces such as Fur Elise.

It was a wonderful celebration of the Prep School music programme, showing how confident the children have become through their peripatetic lessons. It also whetted our appetites for next week’s joint concert with the Prep School’s Giant Orchestra playing alongside Mr Thomas’ award-winning, Blackburn and Darwen Brass Band, taking place on the 8th of December.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to the Senior School hall for a night to remember!

Tickets are £5, available from the school shop and the Prep School office.
