Business Studies students enjoy Virtual Trader share game

Mia is current champion with impressive 11.29% return

All Business Students take part in the Virtual Trader share game. This academic enrichment study is designed to improve their understanding of ‘real-world’ business. The students are given a £100,000 pot of virtual money and then they buy and sell shares on the FTSE 100.

Highlights have been buying shares in TUI before the demise of Thomas Cook. Shares all increased in value after the election result and a good starter to a lesson may well be asking the students to suggest reasons why.

Mia in Year 11 is our current champion. After 4 months of trading she has achieved an impressive return of 11.29% having recently sold ITV shares and IAG (British Airways) for significant profits and banking £44,000. Her portfolio can be seen below, but perhaps the happiest photo is Mia alongside the Year 11 leader board.

Keen eyed readers will spot her Business Studies teacher languishing in 6th place only managing a ‘measly’ 6% return.
