Inspired from this movie.....

Music allowed him to dance slowly through time and welcomed, him like an old friend, into a daydream packed of the memories of his life. His wrinkled, ring less, fingers softly fluttered along the familiar keys like a butterfly on a flower. Softly... Softly.... Softly....

An aroma… a fragrance… a very familiar fragrance, one he had not experienced for many years…ghosted into the room. Joy returned to him, a forgotten smile, was painted back on… Then there were two, playing in sync…. The beautiful song filled their ears as their eyes locked, the chocolate brown eyes that had faded in his memory, came back and will be forever etched in his mind. The smooth hands, with ringed fingers, flowed effortlessly between the keys, they played unison, they were one. The aroma faded… Slowly…Slowly…. Slowly.

In a flash, the fingers were not making music, but attached to a metal weapon, aiming…. Moving…. Surviving…. In the dead of night, the smell of the trenches exploded into his nostrils, it took him back…. He saw it all again, the flash of the blade, the screams of his friends, the bullet that pierced the flesh of his brother…. Holding him, is eyes, closing…. closing…. closing…

The music sends him down the old, familiar road, receiving his  favourite present of all time. The joy as he grasped at the oak stallion and rode.... Free, free as time, free from the shackles of adulthood.

Then the music continues, a song that plays, a song he has rehearsed all his life coming to an end. Life is one big concert.... his song, entwines that of others, complimenting them with each chord, note and measure.

He lays there… his eyes closed, someone younger now plays the song now. His song has just begun, and my eternal sleep begins.
