The AKS hockey season continued in winning ways with four wins against Altrincham Grammar School for Girls.

The U16 team led by example playing really well against an experienced Altrincham team to win 4 – 2. A great battling team performance with superb defending and some great saves from Danni H laid the foundations for the win. Eve C topped the scoring with two well taken goals and further goals from Amelia H and Charlotte L completed the scoring to seal the win. Players of the Match were Lucy W and Danni H.

Despite a week which saw the girls away on a residential, the U14 girls played with great effort and determination to continue their winning start to the season. Some solid defending by Anika R and Reya B helped support Anna V to score 6 goals, Camilla C 3 goals and Gracie Greenwood her first goal of the season! Players of the match were Olivia Daniels and Anna Vavoso. A 10-0 victory was a well-deserved result.

The U13 A match  was certainly a game of two halves. It was a whirlwind start for the U13A’s and before the girls knew it, they were one 1-0 down in the first few minutes. The girls continued to battle however there was a sense of panic amongst the team.

After half time, the girls had settled and approached the second half with great determination and better organisation on the pitch. The girls displayed greater belief in themselves, and started to play hockey they are more than capable of. They created more space, enabling them to link accurate passes as well making strong tackles and distributing the ball calmly out of defence. This play led to AKS confidently scoring 6 goals by Emily (2), Isabelle  (2), Gabrielle H-S, & Esme M. Altrincham voted Isla C as player of the match and AKS vote went to the whole team for their determination, adaptability, and superb teamwork.

It was a nervous yet enthusiastic start for the U13B team. In the first half both teams were evenly contested from end to end of the pitch and the scores remained level.

After half time, the girls were calmer and had a more focussed approach to the task ahead. AKS were more disciplined and started to fulfil their role on the pitch, which aided better organisation. This led to many goal scoring opportunities, through open play and short corners, which Casey M was successful in finding the back of the net and scoring the winning goal. Debut Goalkeeper, Emma W was voted Altrincham’s player of the match and Lauren A was AKS player of the match for her skill at beating players and her excellent distribution of the ball.
