Local Fire Service use AKS facilities for training purposes

PUBLISHED 12 September 2023

Over the Summer holidays we were delighted to help our local Fire Service and welcome them onto site to use our facilities for a day. We had four fire engines on site, and firefighters were given a brief on the car park and faced with a scenario of rescuing people from the roof of a building, before they raced to do their rescue.

Firefighter Matthews from St Annes Fire Station thanked AKS saying:

"Following a link up with Leigh from AKS we were kindly allowed to use the facilities at AKS for training purposes. This was extremely welcomed by all of us involved from Lancashire Fire and Rescue, and provided us the opportunity to carry out some vital Working At Height training. On the back of this we were able to carry out an area exercise at AKS, which involved 4 appliances and included a rescue of 3 people from the roof, one of who was in a ‘critical’ state for the purpose of our exercise.

We are extremely thankful to AKS for the use of the buildings for our training, and in particular Leigh for all his time and efforts in enabling this to happen.

We look forward to continuing the relationship we have developed with AKS in the future."
