Year 3 and Year 4 residential to Borwick Hall

PUBLISHED 20 June 2023

Year 4 and Year 3 set off to glorious sunshine, in the middle of the June heatwave, as they left for Borwick Hall near Carnforth to start their wonderful residential. Year 4 arrived first, as they get an extra night, to be greeted by the friendly staff at Borwick. After collecting bedding and taking their suitcases to the bedrooms, Year 4 had an afternoon of Archery and Team Challenges which included the Crate Stack and the Leap of Faith.

Year 3 joined Year 4 the next day to another beautiful day in the Cumbrian sunshine. Year 4 had a day on the water, canoeing up Lancaster canal. The pupils spotted canal barges and lots of wildlife including minnows, swans and large dragonflies. Once the Year 3s had settled in, their first activities included a Rocky Ramble where they found fossils amongst the sedimentary rocks. This fitted in delightfully with their Science Rock topic. They also travelled on the water using Bell boats.

After a good night's sleep and an evening activity of Orienteering around the grounds of the old Elizabethan hall, Year 4 and Year 3 completed their last activities before waving goodbye to the staff at Borwick Hall.

All the pupils had an amazing time which helped develop their tenacity, independent thinking, and teamwork skills.

Thank you to all the teachers who attended which included Mrs Briggs, Mr Worthington, Mrs Blinston, Mr Thomas, Mrs Hine, and Mrs Mirza.
