Year 12 share research project

PUBLISHED 23 May 2023

As part of the Sixth Form academic enrichment programme, Year 12 academic scholars have completed their Inquiry Projects with a well-attended Evening of Inquiry.

The evening is the culmination of many hours of work by the students that sees them research and write a 2,500-word essay and create an accompanying academic poster. The essay, based on a topic of their choice, provides the students an opportunity to research and investigate in great depth an area of deep interest to them.  The Evening of Inquiry then provides the students an occasion to talk about their learning about the topic and about the learning journey they have been on.

Topics from this year group include “Is it ever ethically justifiable to covertly administer medication?”; “Does the muon g-2 experiment predict the future of particle physics?”; “The Bilateral Influences of the Feminist Movement and Gothic Literature” and “Is Paley’s Design Argument stronger than Aquinas’ Cosmological Argument for the existence of God?”.

In the words of a visiting parent to the Evening of Inquiry: “I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the students’ presentations, background knowledge and confidence when talking about their inquiry projects. It was truly an enjoyable evening”.

Well done to all our students.
