Wellness Wednesday: ‘Mental health is no different to physical health. No one is immune’

PUBLISHED 19 April 2023

In today's Wellness Wednesday message to all staff, Faye Marland (Assistant Head, Staff and Student Development) shared the following information, which may be of interest to our wider community:

"I have recently been introduced to a lady called Dr Julie Smith, a clinical psychologist; some of you may have seen or even read her bestselling book 'Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?' which I have recently read. In November 2019, she started making TikToks containing clear engaging advice about various mental health issues.

Here is one of them...please give it a watch! It will take 1 minute. Copies of her book are in my office if anyone wants to read more.

It is wonderful to welcome Faye back to work after her maternity leave. She is passionate about wellbeing and works alongside our Wellbeing Co-cordinators for EYFS (Nursery Practitioner, Nicole Shorrock) and Prep School (Year 4 teacher, Mandy Briggs) to take care of both staff and student wellbeing. Her commitment, alongside our outstanding pastoral team was endorsed last year, when we were awarded the  'Wellbeing for Schools Award' (WAS) in April 2022, following a review of our pastoral practices, culture and feedback from members of our community, including staff, students and parents.
