As "MAD March" finally draws to a close, it’s been another fast-paced week for all our sports stars.

Friday 24th March saw our U9 Girl Footballers take part in the Wyre & Fylde football festival at AKS, with 12 teams and 120 girls all playing football - it was a great afternoon for all.  Team AKS performed superbly, led by our very own Winne Van “Cruyff”, who brought some Dutch magic to the pitch with a superb solo goal, with Kaitlyn H who made some superb saves in goal. Well done girls!

Monday 27th March saw AKS hosting the LSA Netball and Football Festival in glorious sunshine. With 10 schools all competing for the titles, team AKS were ready for the challenge.

In the netball, the girls continued their impressive league form and unbeaten run of form all season, making it through to the final where they faced Lytham Hall Park. In a tight first half, both teams did well and it was not until the second period before AKS took a clear lead, eventually winning 6-2 and taking the crown once again, LSA Champions 2023.

In the football, our boys squad did very well coming 3rd in their group with some impressive performances and a much-improved team togetherness. With the boys having to show great resilience and tenacity, they continued their impressive form through to the Shield semi-final, where a nail-biting penalty shoot-out saw them lose to Lytham C of E.

Wednesday 29th March saw the re-arranged U9 Boys Football Festival take place at AKS, in very mixed weather conditions. Not to be deterred, 11 teams from across Wyre & Fylde gave it their all, with games end to end and goals galore.

AKS team 1, gave an impressive account of themselves and were group winners with 4 wins from 4, making it through to the Cup semi-final where they faced Lytham Hall Park. With both teams unable to break the deadlock, another nervous penalty shootout was the difference, with AKS, unfortunately, losing, hard to take for all but great to see the development of the team. Well done to team 2 boys who also competed on the day with lots of learning and development throughout all their games, reaching the Plate semi-finals.

Thank you to all players, parents, and AKS Staff who have made running all these fixtures possible, a big team effort from all, and lots of opportunities for the children.

Have a great Easter break and look forward to the Summer Term 2023.
