The AKS hockey teams continued their great start to the season with more winning score-lines against Wilmslow High School.

The AKS U15 team got back to winning ways with a 5 – 2 victory while the lower age teams recorded resounding wins.

The U14 team’s winning start to the season continued with 5 different scorers contributing to the final 7 – 0 scorline. Rosie L opened the scoring after great work on the left from Poppy M but despite dominating possession a packed defence limited space in the circle and scoring opportunities. It was from a corner that Amelia H found the net to make it 2 – 0 and she added another with a superb reverse stick shot minutes later. Excellent passing hockey saw us create space and Esther T played a perfect pass to Amelia who found the net for her hat-trick goal. Wilmslow did have a scoring opportunity before the break but great chasing back by Emelie B and positioning from GK Niamh M forced the Wilmslow forward to shoot wide and we went into the break 4 – 0 ahead. The second half went the way of the first but we started to switch play more effectively and a great run on the right from Charlotte L saw her out run the defence and play the ball to Lucy W who found the net to make it 5 – 0. Charlotte got a goal of her own with a superb strike and then a final goal from Grace P late in the game sealed a well deserved victory. Amelia H was the player of the match for her dominating play in the middle of the pitch and hat-trick.

The U13 A & B teams had impressive wins with a flurry of goals and 11 players finding the net. The U13A had another good match to start their season with an 7-0 victory.  Both teams took the first few minutes of the game to settle into their own game. Once AKS began to use the space on the pitch they played some fantastic hockey, there were some lovely passages of play with the ball being played out wide to both the right and left and great supporting play.  Olivia D made some excellent overlapping runs as RD. The team worked as a unit and continued to put Wilmslow under pressure throughout the game.  Reya B worked hard to stop Wilmslow in attack and fed the ball out of defence with confiden. Goals from Camilla C, Lilia N, Amelie C, Olivia D and Maisie W. Camilla was the player of the match. The B team were however the top scorers of the day with great teamwork seeing 10 goals scored by six different players. I U13B worked extremely hard to put Wilmslow under pressure from the start of the game.  Isabel A played well in defence making some good tackles and feeding the ball down into attack.  Issy H worked tirelessly on the right creating space in order to feed the ball across the D.  Kate H and Sophia Mcguirk were keen to make use of those passages of play, taking the ball first time in order to score.  Isabel A, Li-anna G,  Kate H, Sofia McG,  Gracie G, Anika R were all on target with Isabel A being the player of the match.

The U12A team played against an U13 team from Wilmslow and impressively dominated the game from the start. The team were able to experiment different playing positions and different formations throughout the game. The team won 6-0 with a hat-trick apiece from Camilla W and Olivia W. It was another fine performance from a talented and committed squad. The opposition’s player of the game was Camilla W.

The U12B team played against the Wilmslow High School U12A team and despite creating numerous opportunities, the final touch to convert the goals was missing. The inexperienced side battled hard though and should be very proud of their efforts. The final score was 1-0 to Wilmslow after a well taken goal. The opposition’s player of the match was Jena G.  Well done to all of the players in both U12’s squads. We are very proud of you and can’t wait to see even more progress in the next fixtures.
