AKS Sweep the Wyre & Fylde Cricket Cups, again!

AKS Cricket has swept the Wyre & Fylde Cricket Cups for 2022, with victories in the U12, U13, U14 & U15 tournaments for the second year in a row.

AKS Cricket has gone from strength to strength in recent summers, with our Girls teams being County Champions & Runners Up, all hardball teams having extended Lancashire Cup runs and now showing their dominance on the coast with a clean sweep across the age groups.

A fantastic tournament took place at each age group which invited all Wyre & Fylde schools to participate and grow the sport on the coast. With many schools boasting players who represent local cricket clubs, competition was fierce and local rivalries (and respects) were forged. An overwhelmingly positive experience for all involved.

Students have been involved in a comprehensive programme targeting their skill and tactical development under the watch of Director of Cricket, Liam Castellas. Castellas, who also coaches Lancashire County Age Groups said “It’s a most pleasing result when we step back and look at it. Our students have engaged tremendously with the programme and made huge improvements as a result. All through the Winter we help them to hone their skill levels, then transition them into a summer of challenging fixtures, developing their game management and tactics awareness. This is a great reward for their hard work”
