U15 Hockey team progress to Quarter Finals of National Independent Schools Cup

AKS U15 Hockey team continue their superb season and are celebrating another great win against Bradford Grammar School and now progress into the quarter finals of the National Independent Schools Cup Competition.

We got off to the perfect start after just one minute when Layla W found the net after picking up a rebound in the circle and driving the ball home to take us into an early lead. This put Bradford on the back foot and we dominated play and deservedly went further ahead when Jessie A’s flick found the back of the net to make it 2 – 0.  A minute later Layla W became provider as her perfectly weighted pass found Charlotte T with space in the circle and she made no mistake with a great strike to make it 3 – 0. The best goal of the half , however, came just before the break. A good switch of play by Lisa P at the back found Anya K on the right, her pass forwards found Kirtika S who used her pace to our-run the Bradford defence and pass to Jessie A infornt of goal to slot home for her second and our 4th goal to make it 4 – 0 at half time.

The second half went the way of the first and Charlotte T’s converted a penalty stroke in the 3rd minute made it 5 – 0. Bradford did raise their game and only great defending by Lisa P, Sophie F, Lucy W and Anya K limited the Bradford shots on goal and when they were on target sound goalkeeping by Danni H maintained our clean sheet. Holly W was denied by a good save by the Bradford keeper but when Kirtika S robbed the Bradford defence infront of goal she coolly slotted past the keeper to add to the score. With two minutes to go Layla W got on the score sheet again with a superb drag flick at a corner to make the final score an impressive 7 – 0 win and secured the team a place in the quarter –finals of this prestigious Cup Competition.
