Our Co-curricular Programme
We believe in Individual Pathways at AKS and one of the ways we deliver this commitment is through our co-curricular programme including a huge variety of clubs across the school. These include many music, clubs, for example choir and string ensembles; academic clubs, such as chess, STEM, handwriting, homework and maths challenge club in our preparatory school and others such as debating, quiz, history and science within the senior school.
There are also creative clubs such as art, photography and drama. Sports clubs include hockey, netball, rugby, football, rugby, athletics, cricket, rounders, cross country, tennis and golf.
Our school characteristic of Success And Value also features in our co-curricular activities which encourage students to broaden their horizons and make a positive impact on the world around them. Groups include the Round Square committees and school council within the preparatory school and societies including AKS Action, Round Square, Young Soroptimists, Just Good Friends within the senior school. We also have a high participation rate in Duke of Edinburgh and CCF in the senior school.
The co-curricular programme runs before school, lunchtime and after school and changes each term. If students have an interest which is not catered for by our programme, then we support the students to take the lead in setting up their own club. Examples of this include the Lytham St Annes Classical Association branch (set up by alumna, Katrina Kelly) which is now the largest branch in the country; and a Law Society in senior school as well as Coding and Climbing Clubs in prep school.
