Preparing Children for the Future

What age range is the Prep School for?

AKS Prep School supports children through the primary years and provides a strong foundation before they move into Senior School. Admissions can advise on the right entry point for your child.

How do I apply for Prep School?

The best first step is to arrange a visit so you can see the Prep School in action and meet the team. Admissions will then guide you through the application process and next steps.

Can we visit the Prep School before applying?

Yes. Families are encouraged to visit. A tour gives you the chance to explore the setting, ask questions, and understand what day-to-day life looks like.

What is the curriculum like in Prep School?

Prep School offers a broad and balanced curriculum with specialist teaching, designed to build strong foundations in core subjects while giving pupils opportunities to explore a wide range of interests. You can find more details on the curriculum sections of the Prep School pages.

How does AKS support transition into Reception and through Prep?

Transition is supported carefully so children feel secure and confident as they move into new year groups. Staff work closely with families to ensure children settle well and feel prepared for the next stage.

How does transition into Senior School work?

Prep School is part of the wider AKS journey. As pupils approach the move into Senior School, the transition is supported to help them feel familiar with routines, expectations, and the wider school environment. Pupils are invited to numerous sessions to make friends and get to know their teachers in a range of fun activities and icebreakers, to ensure that they arrive in Year 7, knowing the environment, what to expect and with plenty of friends waiting for them.

What co-curricular opportunities are available in Prep School?

Prep School life includes opportunities beyond the classroom, helping pupils develop confidence, teamwork, and personal interests. Specific activities may vary by age group and time of year. We have a vast co-curricular programme of over 45 weekly clubs in sports, creative pursuits, and academics.
