AKS School Musical, Lowther Pavilion, January 2020
There was huge excitement in our Performing Arts department on Friday last week when the cast was announced for our school musical, The Addams Family, which is due to take place at Lowther Pavilion in January 2020.
The announcement came after students displayed tremendous talent and professionalism as they attended singing and acting auditions earlier in the week. For the audition, students were challenged to learn one of three numbers from this West End hit show, including: 'When You’re an Addams', 'Pulled' and 'What If'.
Miss Worthington (Show Director, Lead Co-ordinatior of Co-Curricular Drama & Teacher of Drama) explained, "We were truly amazed by the range of expressive performances from pupils in years 7 - 13".
Following the singing audition, students participated in an acting workshop, where they had to utilise their improvisation skills to bring the ten principal characters to life.
Miss Worthington continued, "On behalf of the Performing Arts department, I would like to congratulate all those who auditioned and I am proud to say that with such outstanding talent on display all pupils have been welcomed to be a part of the cast". Rehearsals commence this week.
