ISFA Cup run comes to an end

AKS U15's football squad's cup run came to an end on Thursday 14th November in Round 3 of the ISFA Cup vs Bolton School. After two great victories in the earlier rounds against The Grange and Shrewsbury School, optimism was high going into this match.

The visitors started strongly and with conditions playing a factor, Bolton capitalised on this and put early pressure onto the AKS defence forcing the AKS keeper into some early saves. As AKS grew into the game and some tenacious work from Harvey in midfield along with the ever reliable Yash, AKS were able to deal with the threat from Bolton.

Mitchell leading the attack on his own along with Jacob from midfield worked tirelessly trying to create chances for the home side, but Bolton held strong, 0.0 the score at Half time.

Within seconds of the re-start, AKS stunned the visitors and a quick break down the right wing saw a cross into the box met by Alex who calmly lifted the ball over the on rushing goalkeeper into the roof of the net, 1.0 AKS. This goal seemed to spur Bolton on, AKS stood strong although the pressure was relentless, AKS defence eventually giving way to the creativity of the opposition, with 10 minutes AKS were 3.1 down.

Bolton were starting to play some attractive football and a further 3 goals made the scoreline 6.1 to the visitors at full time, a game that seemingly slipped away from the hosts.

Mr Moretti & Mr Walmsley were extremely proud of the team and after the earlier two rounds victories against tough opposition, the squad have all contributed significantly. The side has grown stronger and all the boys have bought into the ethos and the vision that we have set out for football at AKS.
