Girls from our Preparatory School recently spent their weekend on a fantastic hockey and netball tour to Birkenhead and Chester. They played one netball match on the Friday afternoon and three games of hockey on the Saturday. Student Ruby has written her own account of the tour which sounded a superb weekend:
"We arrived on Friday at Birkenhead to play some tough netball. After we dropped our bags off at our hotel, we went to Pizza Hut for dinner. It was a lovely treat. Later we enjoyed an evening of bowling. Well done to Georgia for winning. It was great fun. Then we headed off to bed.
After a good night’s sleep, we got up and had a lovely breakfast. We headed off to our mini tournament.
Our first game we played was Kings Chester. After a slow start we gained control and with plenty of attack we managed to score a great goal by Anna, along with a fantastic dive save by Niamh. Kings did not stop trying but some great defence from Esther, Sophia B, Georgia and Sophia M, left the score 0-1.
Cheadle Hulme were our next opponents, but by now we had warmed up. We got off to a quick start and Lucy put us on the scoreboard. Esther pushed forward and put some great passes in. Cheadle Hulme worked very hard in defence particularly on the short corners. The final score was 0-7.
After that we played Queens. In this game we worked hard as a team and we tried to ensure that everyone got time on the ball. We did some clever passing which allowed me to score the first goal. More goals then followed from Anna and Lucy. This was a difficult match for Queens, but they kept trying. Gracie worked hard in attack and scored a super goal at the end.
Thank you so much to Mrs Dixon and Mrs Cole for a wonderful tour. Thank you also to all of the parents that came to support us. Well done to the whole team."
