AKS welcomes Richard Chadwick as Director of Sport

PUBLISHED 10 September 2024

Richard was born and raised in Cheshire, growing up on a healthy diet of all things sport. Naturally, upon finishing school, he made his way to Loughborough University to study Biology. Having completed his studies and a stint as sports graduate at The King’s School in Macclesfield, he decided his passion lay in teaching, PE and Sport in particular.

Richard was very fortunate to have begun his teaching career at The Royal Hospital School in Suffolk before leaving the balmy South East and heading North to The Royal Grammar School in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Having made his way home to the North West, he joins us from Lancaster Royal Grammar School, a place he has thoroughly enjoyed working.

Away from work, Richard loves to spend time playing and watching sport. If he is not engaged in sport, he can be found in his garden or walking his two dogs, Dougal and Dotty. Richard is a regular visitor to France and is a self-declared Francophile with the intention of one day becoming fluent in the language.

Director of Sport, Richard Chadwick said,

“I am excited to join the team at AKS and hope to inspire and enthuse the whole community, whilst continuing AKS’s rich sporting tradition.”

David Harrow, Headmaster, said,

“I am thrilled to welcome Richard to AKS. His was a great appointment from a strong field, with his experience, dedication and drive being clear from the start. We have always enjoyed a great sporting ethos at AKS, in line with the wider passions of our local community, and I know that he will build on these strengths to provide superb sporting opportunities for everyone, from high-level performers to those simply involved for the sheer joy of it.”
