Congratulations to Head Student, Pippa M, who has been offered a place at Selwyn College, Cambridge to study English, following her A levels in English, Physics and Psychology, which, she notes, “isn’t a particularly traditional combination but one that works for me by stretching my learning in different directions”.
Upon hearing the news, Pippa was keen to express her gratitude to the Sixth Form team for supporting her through the application process and more broadly, commenting,
“I would like to thank the English department for being an amazing source of guidance at every stage of the process. Their dedication to my extracurricular learning has led me to explore more esoteric literature and enjoy every page.
I would also like to thank Mr Collings not only for his expertise surrounding the application process as a whole but the encouragement he has given me from my first draft to my final.
I could not properly express my gratitude without mentioning Mr Maund, who has gone above and beyond in his role as Head of Sixth Form to support me in every part of my school life. I am immensely appreciative of everyone who has helped me through my Sixth Form years so far, and for the opportunities provided by such a wonderful school.”
Amelie L has also received an offer to study (Physical) Natural Sciences at Robinson College, Cambridge following A levels in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
She explained what attracted her to the course, “One thing I especially like about the Natural Sciences course at Cambridge is its flexibility, as I’m still uncertain as to exactly what career path I want to pursue”.
She also expressed her gratitude to the Sixth Form staff team, “All my teachers have been incredibly supportive. I particularly appreciate the time Ms Ronan and Dr Jessop have dedicated to helping me prepare for my admissions test and interview. Additionally, I would like to thank Mr Maund and Mr Collings for their accessibility and help when preparing my application.”
Head of Sixth Form, Kevin Maund, was delighted to hear the news, commenting, "I would like to congratulate both Pippa and Amelie for their tremendous achievement. Both students have worked phenomenally and have seized upon the wide range of opportunities available to them beyond their A level studies."
We wish Pippa and Amelie all the best when they take their exams this Summer.
