Year 1 pupils present their own assembly to school

Today our wonderful Year 1 children presented their very own first assembly to the school and to their families.  

Their theme was ‘The Gift of the Sun’, a story from South Africa. 

The children were a little nervous and excited, but spoke with clear, confident voices, telling the story of lazy Thulani who learned that by looking after his part of the world; his animals and plants, he could become happy and successful. His practical, considerate wife Dora helped him to realise this and shared her quiet wisdom with him. The children related this story to their own lives and their experience growing sunflowers at school.  

This assembly experience will be part of the learning that helps the children grow into the confident and caring young people that we nurture at AKS.
