Year 12 students volunteer on a day of service and environmentalism PUBLISHED 03 February 2023 On Wednesday, our Year 12 students enjoyed a day of service and environmentalism volunteering with the Fylde Sand Dune project on St Annes beach. Their main task was to plant Christmas Trees in front of the existing dunes. Christmas tree planting plays a vital role in helping us widen the sand dunes to act as a more efficient and sustainable form of soft sea defence. The three main aims of the project are to: • Improve the efficiency of the dunes and saltmarsh as soft sea-defence • Enhance the nature conservation interest of the coastal habitats • Enhance public appreciation and enjoyment of the dunes Thank you to Fylde Sand Dune project for letting us be part of this wonderful community initiative - and well done to our the Year 12 students who participated.
