Another great morning of hockey for AKS teams against Altrincham Grammar School for Girls

It was another super morning of hockey for AKS with five teams winning against strong opponents in Altrincham  Grammar School for Girls.

The U16 team led by example with a dominating performance which saw them score 3 goals in the first half. Altrincham did get a late consolation goal but the final score was 3 – 1.

The U15 side came up against an Altrincham side with many skilful players and they started strongly and put us on the back foot from the first whistle. Altrincham passed the ball well and deservedly took the lead in 6th minute with a breakaway goal. We slowly started to get into the game with Lisa P and Lucy W dominating midfield to create scoring chances of our own  but it was  Altrincham who scored the next goal and at the break the score was 0 – 2. The second half saw us start to enjoy some possession and play good passing hockey but Altrincham defended well and scored again to make the final score 0-3. Laura A was the opposition player of the match with Charlotte C’s battling performance earning her the coach’s award.

The AKS U14 side got off to the perfect start with a goal in the first 5 minutes from a superb Charlotte Lstrike. Lifted by the goal we continued to dominate possession and attacked at pace down the right with Lola H, making her debut for AKS, linking well with Charlotte L on the wing. Another goal from a corner saw Amelia H get on the score sheet and two further goals before the break saw us 4 – 0 ahead.  Altrincham started the second half with more purposed and forced a corner which saw a great strike find the corner to make it 4 – 1. This stunned us back into action and we restored our 4 goal lead when Charlotte L got her hat-trick goal midway through the half. A late goal from Altrincham made the final score 5 – 2 but another pleasing performance by all the players to maintain our unbeaten record.  Hat-trick hero Charlotte L was the player of the match.

The U13 A team continued winning ways with a 1 – 0 win and the U13 B team came out as 1 - 0 winners thanks to a goal from Izzy A. The U12A squad put in another impressive display this week against the U13A team from Altrincham. In a closely matched game, there were chances at both ends but strong defence from the AKS backline kept the Altrincham team out. A decisive and well taken individual goal from Camilla W broke the deadlock and the final result was a 1-0 victory for the AKS team.  Well played to all of the team!

The U12B squad had the challenge of playing Altrincham U13B and rose to the challenge with a spirited performance. Learning more about the game each week every player is developing both their skills and understanding and starting to play some good passing hockey. The game was evenly matched but AKS lost by the odd goal despite more superb goalkeeping by Natalie H who was the Player of the Match.
