Come and join our AKS Cycling Club this Summer.
Balance bikes/Learn to Ride (Ages 5 to 7) - Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st August - 10.00am - 3.00pm
These sessions are aimed at children who cannot or have only just learnt to ride, to get them to gain confidence and balance we use balance bikes and other balance toys in a form of play. Once we feel they are happy, we encourage them to try a bike with pedals. We work with them to get them to set off and ride confidently. Once they can do this, we can teach them other skills to help them better control their bikes.
Bikeability (Ages 8 to 11) - Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd September- 10.00am - 3.00pm
This session is where they learn skills to ride on the road safely by completing certain tasks (looking over their shoulder etc). We can take young children on level 1 but only children who have completed their level 1 can take part in Level 2. Level 1 is in AKS school grounds; Level 2 is out on the surrounding roads.
If you have your own bike and helmet, bring them along, although we do have some bikes and helmets if you don’t have one. For insurance purposes all riders must wear a helmet.
