Year 8 team win Robotics challenge in STEM day at Bolton University

PUBLISHED 27 June 2022

Miss Burke & Mr Downey took 12 students, from Years 8 & 9, to Bolton University last Monday to compete against other schools in a S.T.E.M activity day.

The day allowed students to work as junior doctors diagnosing patients, car designers, sampling robotics, and solving crimes whilst acting as Police investigators.

Heads of departments commented on how well pupils worked with each other and University trainees. Each student got stuck into the challenges which involved problem solving and tenacity.

We are pleased to announce that out of the four heats we were placed runners-up in two challenges, and winners in the robotics challenge.

The Year 8 winning team (Rosie, Mayank and Stevie-Jane) each came home with a trophy.

Many thanks to all pupils who applied to participate and to the organisers. We will be looking for more applicants next year for the 2023 competition.
