AKS athletes continued their athletics season at the English Schools Cup Competition with U13 & U15 Girls and boys teams involved with each athlete competing in one track and one field event and earning points for their performances.

AKS girls excelled on the track with the top performances of the day coming from the junior girls. In the 800m Anna V ran superbly in the 800m to set a new school record of 2min40s to earn 24 points and she added another 25 points with a superb throw in the Javelin of 24.25m. Charlotte L was also a record breaker recording a new best of 13.5s in the 100m which also earn 24 points for the team. Other top performances came from Camilla C in the 200m where her time of 29.0s was just outside her own record and Poppy M who ran 6m00s in the 1500m. Excellent performances throughout the team saw AKS achieve a total of 331points for 2nd place which qualifies them for an A Final later in the term.

In the U15 girls competition top performance came in the field where Evie F  threw a personal best of 29.58m in the javelin to secure 25points for the team. Kirtika S also achieved a PB in the 300m with a time of 47.4s and Lisa P( 2m49.0s) and Laura A ( 2m 54.0s) also set PB’s in the 800m.The U15 team total of 263 points put them in 3rd place hopefully will see them progress in a regional semi-final.

Star performer in the U13 Boys event was Charlie F who performed superbly in the shot with a monster Putt of 9.59m to secure 18points. Joe A ran well in the 800m to earn 17pts with a time of 2m40.0s and Cody B was not far behind with a time of 2m41.0s for 16pts. In the field Cody B scored more valuable points with a throw of 21.14m in the Javelin and Henry R  cleared 1.29m in the High Jump.

The Intermediate Boys team also had some superb performances particularly on the track with Finn R running 23.9s in the 200m (24pts) and Felix T achieving a time of 39.3s in the 300m for 23 points. Good runs in the 800m by Jonathon W  (2m25s) and Oliver T in the 1500m ( 4m58s ) both added 18 points while in the field a throw of 24.72m in the Discus by Edward S  secured more valuable points. The overall team total of 273 points secured 6th place in the team competition.
